Forensic science is derived from word “Forensis” which means belonging to courts of justice or public debate and discussions. Broadly saying the recognition, identification, individualization and evaluation of physical evidence by the application of the principles and methods of natural sciences for the purpose of administration of criminal justice. Well, the forensic science embraces all branches of physical and natural sciences, chief among then are chemistry, biology, physics and geology. Over a year it has developed its own branches which are more or less the exclusive domains of forensic science. Anthropometry, ballistics, serology, documents, fingerprints, footprints, odontology were essentially developed to aid the criminal justice administration.

Duration - 3 Years (6 Semesters)

Eligibility criteria: 10+2 in Science stream from a recognized educational Board with Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology as the main subjects at 10+2 level. A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.

Scope : Forensic science is a very vast field in its scope and applications It is well known by its several identities like forensics medical, jurisprudence and other fields such as Forensic psychology, Criminalistics, Hypnosis, Forensic Archeology, Various forensic science engages pathologists, biologists, physicists, chemists and medical officers to solve queries of crime.
